
The Warden of the Municipality of Digby hopes his appointment to an advisory committee will provide good information to the community and the council.
Jimmy MacAlpine says he’s pleased to have a seat on the Western Region Crown Land Stakeholder Interaction Committee.
“On how the province is moving forward with the Lahey Report and how they’re going to implement the recommendations from the report. For example, there’s been issues over clear-cutting and it seems like that they’re looking at doing it in a more manageable fashion.”
The group is an advisory committee to the Department of Lands and Forestry.
The Independent Review of Forestry Practices in Nova Scotia was delivered in August of 2018 by Bill Lahey and addressed forestry practices in the province, in particular, public concern over clear-cutting on Crown land.
