A group in Shelburne County are hosting a mental health expo next month.
The 2nd Annual Mental Health & Wellness Expo will be held in a month, and is hosted by the Shelburne County-based Because We Care Fund.
The Because We Care Fund recognizes the need for mental health awareness, and Spokesperson Amelie Daykin says the fund began thanks to the 100 +Women Who Care Shelburne County.
“We were really concerned about social responsibility,” said Daykin.
“We wanted to make sure that if we could do anything to help our community, we would. We needed to so something now because there is a great need.”
She says they’re also there to lend a helping hand including assisting seniors on low-income to purchase prescriptions.
“We have helped single mothers with various needs,” she said, “We’ve bought school supplies for families that have a short falling income, and we have sent kids to Camp Jordan.”
They recognize the need for mental health awareness, and will feature 20 professionals, guest speakers, health coaches and support groups at the expo.
The expo takes place Sunday September 8 from 12 to 5 at the Barrington Lions Club.
