
The federal and Nova Scotia governments are investing a total of $764,729 into onsite wastewater improvement projects in Wedgeport.
The announcement was made Friday, August 2.
The Municipality of Argyle has committed just over $278,000.
Alain Muise, the CAO for the municipality says wastewater issues were identified back in 2001.
“We have done some detailed analysis of the area. We identified approximately 188 individual septic systems that were either not working properly or not working to the level they should be working.”
This is phase 3 with 50 wastewater septic tanks being replaced or upgraded in Wedgeport.
42 were done in the the first two phases.
In 2016 over $858,000 in joint federal/provincial funding was announced.
