Bernadette Jordan, federal Minister of Rural Economic Development, was in the Town of Digby Tuesday to announce funding to bring new or improved access to the area.
“This is actually going to the Digby Neck area. It’s two communities and we’ve also already announced funding in this area as well. This is going to be the 28th project in Nova Scotia and it’s over $18 million that’s been invested in Nova Scotia for high-speed Internet.
The investment for Little River and East Ferry includes $129,525 from the government and $44,175 from Bell Canada.
The money is part of the “Connect To Innovate” fund that was part of the last federal budget.
Jordan says this is the final announcement for Nova Scotia from the fund but there could also be money still to come from the “universal broadband fund”.
