If the Yarmouth Parade of Lights doesn’t happen this year, it won’t be from lack of trying.
A group, led by Councillor Steve Berry are trying to make sure it happens, either as part of Seafest or as part of a separate event in August.
He says they are making an attempt to get it back on the schedule for Seafest.
“So, I met with Seafest on Friday, and we came up with a hard deadline of Wednesday afternoon in order for this to happen. We’re just putting a plea out to the public and we’re going to need 4 or 5 boats to step up, some volunteers to be able to decorate them, and we’re going to look for some sponsors to help with the fireworks and stuff and, if this can come together, it will be a go for next Saturday night”
Berry and Seafest President David Outhouse have given a deadline of Wednesday for volunteers to come forward to have it ready for next weekend.
“We do want to make sure this happens this summer for sure, so, if we can’t do the “Hail Mary” and get it going for Saturday night, be a part of Seafest, we’re still gonna go forward and try to make it happen some time in August, if we can”
