Yarmouth Ribfest is over for another year and the organizers are already working on next year’s event.
Wayne Hamilton tells Y95 News they were quite pleased with the event.
“Surprisingly, going to a new location, out to the Mariners Centre, it was…pretty much the same. We didn’t really lose anything, the crowd was a bit different, we’ve had more family-oriented, there were moms and dads, their kids. It was really quite nice to see”
Hamilton says that the ribbers were very pleased with the move to Mariners Centre.
“They absolutely loved it. We sat down at the end of it and had a little conversation, we’ve got some new ideas for next year that are even going to make it more user-friendly and things for everyone to do”
He says the only area that saw a drop from last year was alcohol consumption, something they attribute to the fact people had to drive to the event, but they are looking at whether they can do more to accommodate those who aren’t driving.
Based on the number of vehicles parked by the Ground Search and Rescue folks and the number on the road or at the mall across the street, they estimate the crowd to have been well over 10,000 for the 3 days.
