A project is being launched through University Sainte Anne designed to enhance the knowledge of Acadian history, culture and heritage.
Historian Stephanie St-Pierre, the coordinator of the university’s Acadian Centre made a presentation last night to Argyle council.
She says she’s at the preliminary phase which focuses on contacting potential partners for the project.
“I have already submitted an application for three students through Youth Canada Works program for this summer. Basically, the partners would help with finance the human resource aspect of it for research and writing.”
St-Pierre tells CJLS News about the next phases.
“Creating not only an online presence but perhaps looking at revamping some of the panels that are already being used for tourist purposes, which is something that I think the two municipalities would be quite interested in.”
St-Pierre has applied for funding for three undergraduate students to help work on the project which she says can be used for tourism, research and education.
