The RCMP has arrested five suspects and has laid charges against three of them in relation to the serious assault incident that took place in Yarmouth on Friday night.
A 17-year-old girl sustained serious injuries after five people assaulted her.
On the night of the incident, a 19-year-old woman was arrested in Salmon River.
She was released later that evening and is scheduled to attend Yarmouth Provincial Court on February 19 to face charges of Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Unlawful Confinement, and Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence.
On Saturday, a 17-year-old female youth from Yarmouth turned herself in to the detachment.
She was arrested, charged, and later released but she is scheduled to return to Yarmouth Youth Court on February 26. She has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Unlawful Confinement, Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence, and Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm.
Sunday, a 64-year-old woman from Yarmouth was arrested at a home on Green St.
She was released and is scheduled to attend Yarmouth Provincial Court on February 19th, facing one count of Assault with a Weapon.
Yesterday, two additional people were arrested in Ste. Anne de Ruisseau.
Jadelyn Kristi-Ann Rhyno, also known as Trey Middleton, 19, of Yarmouth, and Danesha Russell, 19, of Yarmouth, are both facing charges of Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Unlawful Confinement, Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence, and Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm.
They were taken to Yarmouth Provincial Court following their arrests and were held in custody. They are scheduled to return to court today.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
