Discouraged.
That’s how the Director of Operations for the Tri-County Regional Centre for Educations feels about the number of school bus red light violations.
Steve Stoddart looked at numbers for September to December for the last three years.
He tells CJLS News it was one step forward and then one step back and is particularly concerning because of a pilot project they tried.
“Flashing red lights down lower on the bus. We’ve had this increase from 91 last year, September through December, to 103 this year.”
Stoddart, says it’s a disturbing trend.
“One of my largest safety concerns is students on the highway, especially in this time of year when there’s snow on the road and there’s no shoulder.”
He says drivers need to start paying attention before a student is struck.
