A Veteran’s Appreciation Day is planned for later this month.
It’s being hosted by Royal Canadian Legion branch in Wedgeport.
One of the organizers, veteran Andre Boudreau tells CJLS News that last year they did a rucksack march but this year wanted to do something different.
“This one is more slanted toward retired veterans, veterans that were medically released from the military, that’s guys or gals that retired before they were ready to retire.”
Boudreau says they wanted to do something for retired veterans who were medically released from the military before they were ready to retire.
“It gives them back that feel of the community that they left, it gives them an opportunity to reconnect with other veterans in the local area that may have gone through the same experiences and lived the same type of life.”
Boudreau, along with fellow veteran Todd Muise will offer the participants free recreational activities.
The event takes place at Ellenwood Park on Friday January 25.
