A Yarmouth County woman says she won’t stop telling the story of what led to her young daughter’s tragic death.
Jennifer Holleman wants parents and children, especially young girls to know how easy it is to fall victim to the sex trade.
Her daughter Maddison was a typical young teen who fell into a life of prostitution and was a victim of brutal violence.
Maddison died in 2015 in a car crash with a man believed to have been her ‘pimp’.
Holleman says she didn’t realize how prominent the sex trade is in rural communities.
She says Maddison’s journey into the dark world of the sex trade began right here in Yarmouth with a young man she met.
Holleman tells CJLS News what disturbs her is what teenage girls, some who were Maddison’s friends, think about the threat of getting lured into the sex trade.
“They may say ‘I’m going to go try this drug’, or I’m going to take a date with this guy because he’s really cute and he’s really nice and I don’t think he’s be like that’.
She said one young girl told her that teenage girls don’t think anything bad will happen to them because they feel invincible.
