The rebuild of the QE II Health Services Centre will be made through a public-private-partnership or P3 model.
The biggest piece is the expansion of the Halifax Infirmary site.
That will include a new Cancer Centre will move all cancer care services under one roof.
The infirmary will expand to include over 600 hospital beds, 28 operating rooms, 33 intensive care beds, and 15 intermediate care beds.
A new outpatient care centre will also be created at the infirmary and include the QE II Eye Care Centre.
As well, three learning and training labs will be included to support the hospital’s research and teaching mandate.
The redevelopment will see the eventual closure of the Centennial, Victoria and Dickson buildings.
The province is looking for a partner this fall to design, finance, and maintain the buildings over 30 years.
