A couple of years ago the town had to impose water restrictions during a drought.
It’s not bad…yet.
Lake George provides drinking water for residents and businesses in the town and some in the Municipality of Yarmouth.
Clifford Hood tells CJLS News he recently visited the lake.
“I’m guardedly optimistic that we will not run out of water. I think that this is unnaturally dry and we’re going to get some, surely, in the next two to three weeks. we’re o.k. for now.”
However, Hood says if that rain doesn’t come, the town may have to implement water restrictions.
The town is providing water tokens for those not on town water.
Some people have complained about the price of $4.39 for 250 gallons.
Hood says the rate is set by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board and the town has to charge that rate.
“The only way that gets changed is if somebody makes a representation to the board, when they have a public hearing, which we have to do every so often, and it gets changed.
The bulk water tokens are available at town hall during regular business hours.
