The forecast is calling for a sunshine on Saturday, good news for organizers of the Fire Fighters Family Fun Day.
It’s being held at Mariners Centre from 10 to 3 and includes water games and fire truck rides for the kids, a bouncy castle, dunk booth, static displays and hot dogs and ice cream.
The Eel Brook Volunteer Fire Department will be putting on a vehicle extrication demonstration.
“We usually have Barrington and Wood’s Harbour/Shag Harbour departments, but they’ll be in New York participating in a fire fighters competition so we wish them well.”
Members of the 84th Independent Field Battery will be there and, if available, the RCMP and EHS.
Stewart Deveau of the Yarmouth Volunteer Fire Department says they’ll also be selling tickets.
“On a home security package. We’re looking at possibly a fire escape ladder, a fire extinguisher and some smoke detectors. The money that’s generated from that and any donations, go to the Fire Fighters Museum.””
There’s no admission and Deveau says it’s a way for fire fighters throughout the Tri-Counties to thank the public for their support over the past year.
“It’s also a great opportunity for folks to say ‘hi” to fire fighters from the various communities and see how well they’re trained and check out the different apparatus and equipment that’s used.”
