Fire has destroyed two buildings and damaged two more in Weymouth.
The blaze began at the old Bell’s Store on Main Street, and spread to the former library next door and a building across the street.
The old store and library are both completely destroyed, and power is out in the area because the lines were also burned.
No one was hurt.
Weymouth fire chief Roy Mullen says they got the call around 4:20 this morning.
At least nine fire departments from Digby County responded: Weymouth, Little Brook, Digby, St. Bernard, Havelock, Plympton, Gilbert’s Cove, Bear River and Smith’s Cove.
Mullen says an investigation will likely take place, but it could be impossible to tell how the fire started because of the destruction.
He says the road remains closed, and there is no word on re-opening at this time.
Mullen says the buildings are still smoldering.
