The defenders of the Fishtank are back this week.
The Yarmouth Junior A Mariners return to the ice at Mariners Centre on Thursday for training camp.
After falling in six games last year in the MHL final, members of the team will be hungrier than ever for a championship this season.
The head coach and general manager, Laurie Barron, says there will be a lot of players at training camp.
He says that means there’s a desperate need for billet families.
“We’re looking for a few billets, not just for training camp, but a couple of beds for the whole year.”
Barron says anyone interested in becoming a billet can contact him at 902-740-1426.
The Mariners open the regular season on September 14th against Campbellton at home.
He says they’ve had a great off season.
“We picked up some great young players, also some very good free agents. Paper doesn’t win hockey games but we like the way the roster looks right now.”
The Mariners are coming off an appearance in the MHL final.
