Small craft harbours across Nova Scotia are about to get a facelift.
Treasury Board President, MP Scott Brison announced the Government of Canada will put $42 million dollars into the province’s wharfs and breakwaters.
The money will go to upgrades, repairs and dredging at 27 locations.
Brison says fish and seafood is Canada’s second largest export.
“And one of the pillars of this industry is our national network of small craft harbours. And keeping them safe and accessible and in good repair requires considerable time, effort and investment.”
Brison says this money is part of the federal government’s commitment to infrastructure spending.
“The fishing industry is a key economic sector for our province and for our country. Keeping harbours in good operating condition is absolutely critical to the people who use them and for their safety.”
South Shore St-Margaret’s MP Bernadette Jordan will announce where the money is going in her riding next week.
