The group which includes municipal representatives, community organizations, health professionals and other concerned individuals gathered today at Shelburne’s Community Centre.
Mayor Karen Mattatall says people have had enough.
“This week again another 66 hours at Roseway. As I’ve said before, it’s not only unacceptable, it’s unreasonable to expect people to tolerate that. It’s not just Roseway, six other emergency departments around the province have also faced extended closures.”
She says just over the past few weeks, the Health Crisis Working Group has grown in numbers.
“I have been contacted by citizens, health care professionals, paramedics, municipal councillors and others from across the province who are joining the effort.”
Mattatall says they also discussed plans for a provincial day of action on October 13 for people to rally in their communities.
