RCMP are warning Nova Scotians buying illegal drugs may not be getting what they think.
A recent drug bust in Cape Breton revealed just five percent of the substance to be cocaine.
The other 95 percent was various cutting agents.
Corporal Dal Hutchinson says they’re concerned about people’s safety.
“We’re looking, by putting out this release,to generate discussions between people, family members, friends and encourage those that are dealing with addictions issues to get the help that’s out there.”
Hutchinson says the issue isn’t exclusive to one area.
“It’s not just in South Shore or the HRM area, it’s right across the province. We’ve heard of Fentanyl, we’ve heard of Carfentanyl. These are things that will kill you instantly. Again, just putting it out there for people to have discussions with their loved ones and friends.”
He says to reduce the risk of overdose always carry a Naloxone kit.
And those are available at pharmacies across the province.
