It doesn’t happen often in this area
Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.
It says conditions favouring the development of severe thunderstorms are expected to move over the region this afternoon.
The forecaster says if those thunderstorms develop, they would be capable of producing torrential rain, and strong wind gusts possibly exceeding 70 km/h.
