High temperatures have Nova Scotians cranking the air conditioning as they try to beat the heat.
That added cooling places more demand on the grid for electricity.
Nova Scotia Power spokesperson David Rodenhiser says the utility is prepared to handle the extra load.
“We’re up about seven percent over what we’d normally expect. Can’t say how much of that is attributable directly to cooling, but you know, more people are installing air conditioning and heat pump units.”
Rodenhiser says electrical usage is about half what Nova Scotians draw over the winter months to heat their homes.
Temperatures are expected to stay close to thirty degrees through tomorrow before dropping to the low twenties on Thursday.
