The major fundraiser for the Yarmouth YMCA is expected to get underway next month.
The Y12 Lottery can bring in around $100,000 to help the Y continue and expand its programming in the community.
The Y never turns down people, especially youth and children, if they can’t afford membership or program fees.
Trish McCourt, the centre’s manager, says they’re focusing on rebuilding specific programming.
“The areas in our community where really seems to be a gap, we’ve looked at demographically, are children and youth and seniors.”
She says they’ve hired a new child and youth coordinator whose focus is adding new programs.
McCourt hopes the Y12 Lottery will be up and running after the Labour Day weekend.
“Regardless of what happen with this lottery, the YMCA is committed to being here in this community in whatever way we can. We don’t want to have to reduce the programming that’s being offered.”
You can listen to the feature interview with Trish McCourt this Sunday morning on the Y95 CJLS Weekender.
You might be surprised and the extensive programming and services that the Yarmouth YMCA offers.
