More than 900 athletes from across the country have arrived here in Nova Scotia for the 2018 Canadian Special Olympics Summer Games in Antigonish.
Today, July 31st, 2018 marks the first official day of the 2018 Special Olympics National Summer Games, being hosted at St. FX University in Antigonish.
All athletes taking part in the summer games have previously qualified at both the local and provincial to get to this point.
They’ll compete in various athletic disciplines from Track and Field to Swimming, Golf, Softball, Basketball and Soccer.
Our region is being well represented at the games by the following athletes for Team Nova Scotia:
