Despite the recent dry spell, the water level at Lake George is o.k.
Residents of the Town of Yarmouth and some in the Municipality of Yarmouth rely on Lake George for their water.
Mayor Pam Mood says while the lake is holding it’s own, the water utility is asking people to be cautious.
“We just spoke with Lake George folks today and we’re holding our own. It is summer time. We’ve had our problems before where wells went dry and the level in Lake George dropped quite a bit.”
In 2016, a drought brought the level in Lake George to a near-record year low.
Activities like washing cars and watering lawns can consume a great deal of water.
