Municipalities across the region are benefitting from a half-a-million dollar beautification and streetscaping program.
The province will contribute half the cost of a project, anywhere from $10-25 thousand.
Yarmouth MLA Zach Churchill was at town hall today to announce $13,000 from the program will go to repairing the north and south end fountains, along with the one in Frost Park.
Churchill says it’s all about having places that we can all be proud of.
“That will encourage people to visit, spend money and create that level of excitement for local residents.”
Mayor Pam Mood says the town will match the funding.
“Any time we can up the ante in the town for beautification, it goes a long way. We’ll have $26,000 in total for this project.”
Work will also include landscaping around town signs.
Projects from the provincial fund also incude $22,000 in the Town of Shelburne for downtown revitalization, $13,000 for the Cape Saint Mary Lighthouse Park in Clare and $25,000 for Water Street and greenspace upgrades in the Town of Digby.
There will also be grants given for projects in Mahone Bay, Lunenburg and Queens.
