Th’YARC is hosting an open house at the former Arcadia School.
The organization purchased the building from the Municipality of Yarmouth earlier this year.
The open house will take place tomorrow night from 6-8pm.
YARC president Mitch Bonnar says it will be an informal session.
“It’ll be an open house, it’s not by invite only, everyone is welcome. We’re going to show people around the building so they can see what we have to start with and what we have to work with. We really want to get some participation going on ideas.”
Bonnar says the session is all about hearing what the community would like to see happen with the building.
Last week, Bonnar told Acadia News that future plans for the facility include a new, 10,000 square foot theatre.
First, funding from higher levels of government and fundraising will need to be done.
Th’YARC is planning the move because they couldn’t come to an agreement with the Town of Yarmouth on a location for a new arts and culture centre in town.
The town is moving ahead with plans for their own arts centre on Collins Street.
