Nova Scotia RCMP are warning of a new phishing scam.
People are receiving e-mails which appear to be coming from legitimate companies such as Netflix and Amazon.
The body of the e-mail is a clickable link which leads to a fake website that looks very much like the originals.
The user is asked to enter their personal and banking information.
RCMP advise checking the sender’s address to check if the e-mail is real.
If the part after the ‘at’ symbol doesn’t match the company’s name, chances are it’s a fake.
Police say you should be very careful about releasing any personal information.
And if you have doubts, contact the company directly.
