Part two of our discussion with Yarmouth Mayor Pam Mood, and architects from MacKay Lyons-Sweetapple. A meeting was held at the Rodd Grand Hotel on July 5th to give the public an update on a planned arts and culture centre for downtown Yarmouth. The cost to build the facility was revealed, 25 million dollars. Gary Nickerson has a conversation with the mayor and architects about how the building will look, what it will be used for and next steps.
Th’YARC is still planning on leaving town. They purchased the former Arcadia School building from the municipality of Yarmouth, and plan to re-develop it into their new arts and culture centre. The deed to the property should be handed over this coming week. YARC President Mitch Bonnar joins us to talk about his vision for the centre.
And, The five provincial Progressive Conservative leadership candidates squared off in the third of six province-wide debates last Thursday night. It was held at the theatre behind Par-en-bas school in Tusket. The Weekender spoke to each of the five candidates, and asked what issues are important to them. Hear their responses.
