The 14th annual Jody Shelley Golf Fore Health tournament was held in Clyde River on Friday.
32 teams were registered, and the weather was beautiful at the River Hills Golf and Country Club.
Most importantly, some big dollars were raised toward the purchase of a portable ultrasound for the diagnostic imaging department at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
Development officer of the foundation Mary Surette says $34,000 was raised.
“We can’t thank Jody enough. He takes time out of his schedule to come back home, and he loves to come back. He always says that it’s his pleasure to give back to the community that he grew up in.”
Shelley played 13 seasons in the NHL, and calls Yarmouth home.
Surette says they’ve had a great few years at River Hills, but the tournament will be moving to a different course next year.
She says it will be held at Digby Pines, to help encompass all the Tri-Counties who will use equipment at the hospital.
