The Town of Yarmouth is looking at repairs and upgrades to the Milo Boat Club.
The building, which was built in the late 1930’s, is owned by the town and operated by Yarmouth Recreation.
Maintenance costs are shared with the Municipality of Yarmouth through a decades-old agreement.
Town council has directed staff with Yarmouth Recreation to do a needs assessment of the building for next year’s budget.
Mayor Pam Mood says the recreation funding model with its municipal partners needs to be reviewed.
“It’s a bit dated, I think about 20 years since we looked at that closely. We want to get together with our partners, take a look at that and see if we can do things differently There are things that need to be dome like the bathrooms and accessibility.”
She calls the Milo Boat Club a tremendous asset for the entire region.
One of the more popular activities this time of year is dragon boating.
It’s also a very popular swimming spot, staff by the Nova Scotia Life Guard Service.
They also rent canoes and kayaks.
