It’s getting dry in some areas despite some rain this week.
Municipalities are keeping a close watch on water levels.
But Janine Muise, co-ordinator of the Municipality of Argyle’s EMO says there’s no immediate concern.
She hasn’t heard from anyone whose wells are dry.
“I have spoken with some of our firefighters and they’re keeping an eye on their water holes used for fighting fires. We are always prepared to implement actions to help our residents as we did with the drought two years ago. Hopefully we won’t go there this year.”
In 2016 a drought dried up wells across the region with hundreds of residents experiencing little or no water in their wells that summer.
Muise also reminds people to be careful when burning and check the Department of Natural Resources BurnSafe map. https://novascotia.ca/burnsafe/
