The Yarmouth Volunteer Fire Department is holding a fund raising event this weekend.
It’s a smallmouth bass fishing tournament.
It will take place on Killams Lake from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m on Saturday.
Co-organizer Corey Burke says it’s open to anyone.
“You don’t have to be a member, you don’t have to be a firefighter. If you just want to come out and fish from a canoe with your kids, you’re more than welcome to come.”
Jason George, president of the Yarmouth Volunteer Fire Department, says 50 per cent of the registration fees collected go directly to the department.
“We’re trying to get our upstairs (at the fire hall) opened up. Also we buy items like jackets and caps for the volunteers so they’re more visible and better identified in the community.”
Registration is from 1 to 2 p.m.
A valid 2018 fishing license is required and Lunker Trunk https://lunkertrunk.com/ will have some available to purchase.
The cash bounty for the winner is $5.00 per participant.
There will be a draw for some great prizes from their sponsors.
