Some critical components of a new arts and culture centre for Yarmouth will be unveiled next week.
Those include how much it will cost, what it will look like and how it will be run.
The town has invited the public to a session Thursday July 5 at the Rodd Grand Hotel.
Results of public consultation sessions into concept design, board governance framework and a feasibility cost study will be presented.
Mayor Pam Mood says governance is the number one issue the town wants to deal with.
She says even if the town owns the arts centre, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll run it.
“I often look at models such as what we’re doing with the WREN (Western Regional Enterprise Network). It’s business led, people with business minds with a skills matrix of everything from legal to accounting. All those pieces need to fall in place so that you have a board that can govern to the best of their ability.”
Shen asked if the municipalities of Yarmouth and Argyle would be approached for funding support, Mayor Mood says ‘we’re not even there yet, I can’t answer that.”
Mood says there will be further community presentations to discuss the operational model and economic impact assessment.
