The Rural Nova Scotia Health Crisis Working Group wants to gain more momentum to raise awareness of the issues facing the health-care system.
The group met last week and Shelburne Mayor Karen Mattatall says they continue to build support.
“We’re going to be continuing to contact other municipal units to try and build the momentum even further. We would like it to extend across the province.”
Mattatall says they’ll be turning up the heat on the Nova Scotia government this fall.
The group plans a provincial day of action on rural health care leading up to the opening of the House of Assembly.
Mattatall says they’ll also organize opposition days once the house is in session, where PC and NDP MLAs will keep up the pressure.
They will hold an outreach event in Halifax.
“The more services that are restricted and removed and the less doctors available in the rural areas, puts more pressure on the larger areas. We want Halifax residents to be on board.”
They will be putting up a Facebook page too, with testimonials from people affected by the crisis.
