Nova Scotia is giving more money to ‘the CAT’ this year. Bay Ferries will receive $1.5 million more than last year for the Yarmouth to Portland, Maine service, for a total subsidy of $10.9 million. Transportation Minister Lloyd Hines says an increase in fuel prices is the reason. Hines says this link is very important to Nova Scotia. We speak with Lloyd Hines.
The Classic Car Show, held in Yarmouth each summer, draws countless people to the area. Main Street is closed off and the downtown becomes it’s own little town as spectators enjoy the beautiful automobiles. Roaring 20’s Antique Auto Club committee chair Brent Bullerwell and member Patti Durkee both agree, it’s not just about the vehicles. We speak with Bullerwell and Durkee on what to expect this year.
Another great summer event that has become a staple is Mariners Ribfest. This year, a carnival is planned along with your favourite ribbers returning to the Yarmouth waterfront. The dates are July 6-8. Organizer Keith Condon is in studio to talk about the third annual event.
