The Nova Scotia Lumberjack Championships are on this weekend in Barrington.
The event will be hosted at the Wild Axe Park in Barrington on Saturday and Sunday.
Director of the North Nova Lumberjack Society Burlin Nickerson says Barrington is a hot-spot for the sport.
“17 world titles, that’s just spread out among 20 guys that have tried their hand internationally at lumberjacking from Barrington. We’ve traveled all over North America, some have even gone to Australia and China.”
Nickerson, who resides in Pubnico and has competed since 1992 says there will be over 40 participants from the Maritimes and Quebec, and a couple from Ontario.
Events include axe throwing, underhand chop, hot saw, standing block chop and more.
The gates open at 11am each day and the competition begins at 1pm.
