The official opening of a new park in East Pubnico takes place next weekend.
The project started about two years ago with community consultations.
Natalie d’Entremont, Director of Recreation Services for the Municipality of Argyle says an old ballfield was put to good use.
“It was unsafe to walk and bike in East Pubnico, therefore we decided to we decided to come with with this new idea that we’d have a bike track along with a walking track on the ball field.”
The new facility features a beginners BMX bike track.
The official opening of the East Pubnico Biking & Walking Park is on Saturday, June 16 at 10am.
It includes a ribbon cutting ceremony, a short demonstration on the bike track and activities for families including a BBQ.
