There is worry that the next Yarmouth minor hockey season will not go ahead. There are several vacant positions on the board of the Yarmouth County Minor Hockey Association. Past-president Ian White says those include a president, a vice-president and a treasurer, and also Bantam and Midget C directors. “Unfortunately nobody stepped up prior to and during the annual general meeting in May. The season is in jeopardy and it would be a shame to see minor hockey not go ahead because we can’t fill these positions.” White says they’d like to have the positions filled by August at the very latest. “That’s when you start up with registrations and you start planning all the rep try-outs and all those things, so it really has to be done by then. There’s some paperwork and meetings to do during the summer months as well.” White says Hockey Nova Scotia rules indicate these positions are needed, or the season can’t proceed.
