Interest is building in roller derby in Yarmouth.
Information sessions have been taking place for a potential roller derby league in our area.
Roberta Lyons played the sport out west and wants to bring her love of the sport back here.
She says while roller derby is a contact sport, there are rules.
“There’s no elbowing, clothes-lining or tripping. You can only have contact from above the knees up to the shoulder area.”
She says next steps include finding space to play and promoting the sport.
“Finding skate space would be big, especially with winter coming. And we want to be visible in the community, for example the classic car show or parades. We want to promote the sport.”
