Tax rates in the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth are going up.
At a meeting last week, council increased the residential rate by one cent, to $1.17 per $100 of assessment.
The commerical rate is also rising by a penny to $2.16 per $100 of assessment.
Warden Leland Anthony says the increase will help move some capital projects along.
“We’re doing work at the Cape Forchu Lightstation, some work at the Hebron Industrial Park and improvements to sidewalks, among a number of other things.”
Anthony says other projects include work at the ferry terminal and Lake Milo.
He expects a small surplus in 2018-19 of around $10,000.
Council approved an operating budget of $12.3 million.
