Nova Scotia is responding to a call for help in Alberta.
The province is sending a Department of Natural Resources firefighting crew to help Alberta tackle several wildfires.
The 27 person crew leaves today but where exactly they’re heading is yet to be determined.
Yesterday Alberta Wildfire reported 35 fires burning within protected areas, seven of which remain out of control.
Fire bans are now in place for most of the Northern part of the province.
The assistance from Nova Scotia was requested through the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre.
DNR says they’ll ensure Nova Scotia continues to have firefighting resources maintained while the crew is in Alberta.
Nova Scotia is a member of the Canadian Mutual Aid Resource Sharing Agreement, which ensures all provinces and territories receive help if forest fires become too big to handle.
The affected province covers the costs of those sending help.
