The Island Traps Schooners are about to start their fifth season in the Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League.
The team, based in Clark’s Harbour are coming off a provincial AA title last year, won on home field.
But manager/player Keith Nickerson says they want to take it a step further this year.
“Every year we want to try and win the league playoffs. We want to then host or go to the AAA provincials and see how we do there as well.”
Nickerson says they have a core group of nine or ten players back this year, with five new members on the roster.
They’ll play an exhibition game on Sunday at 5pm against the Yarmouth Gateways Legends at the Sherose Island Field.
The regular season begins with a doubleheader on Saturday, June 2nd at the F.A. Brannen Memorial Field in Clark’s Harbour against the Truro Bearcats.
Game times are 1 and 3pm.
