An elementary school in Shelburne County was placed on hold and secure today.
The safety measure was taken at Clark’s Harbour Elementary School on Cape Sable Island due to a ‘person of interest’ that may have been in the area.
RCMP Media Relations Corporal Dal Hutchinson says a 28 year old man is in custody, but could not provide further details.
Cpl. Hutchinson says the hold and secure was done by the school after conversations with RCMP.
Acadia News obtained a copy of a text from the school that was sent to parents today.
The text indicated that there was never a direct threat to the school community, and precautions were taken to ensure student and staff safety.
All outside doors were locked and recess was held inside.
Cpl. Hutchinson says the investigation is on-going.
