Nova Scotians will have to wait to hear from officials responsible for the security failure in the Freedom of Information (FOIPOP) website.
Liberal members of the Public Accounts Committee once again blocked an opposition motion to have bureaucrats from the Department of Internal Services appear and answers questions.
Lunenburg MLA Suzanne Lohnes-Croft is a member of the PAC.
She says Nova Scotians will get answers.
“We’re not saying we don’t want them to come to public accounts. We would like to have the Privacy Information Officer, and also the Auditor General and let them do their work first.”
Lohnes-Croft went on to say,”We would like to see those reports finished before we start asking questions of civil [servants]. They’re being questioned now and investigated.”
The PAC holds government accountable for how public money is spent.
Lohnes-Croft says the FOIPOP issue is outside their mandate.
