A local minor hockey association recently won provincial awards.
The Shelburne County Minor Hockey Association received the Development Association of the Year award and the Development Coordinators of the Year award by Hockey Nova Scotia.
Andrew Holland is the development coordinator for Shelburne.
He says they are always trying to improve.
“It was for our work that we did putting on development sessions and helping coaches develop their practice skills throughout the season.”
Holland says the kids deserved some extra attention toward their skill and development at an earlier age.
“It makes them progress better as they go up through the levels. We are honoured to receive this award.”
Last season, 175 kids were registered.
The Peewee A Flames team made it to the South Conference Championship, along with the Bantam B team making provincials.
