A test of the emergency alert system was broadcast across radios and televisions in Nova Scotia today.
For the first time, smartphones were to receive the alert.
We asked on our social media platforms if you received an alert or message on your phone, with some indicating they didn’t.
Paul Mason, executive director with Nova Scotia EMO says they also heard that some didn’t receive the alert.
“That really gets back to the need for these tests. If there’s been any issues identified where a phone that was compatible didn’t get an alert, those carriers will look at that and make whatever corrections are required.”
Mason says the EMO is generally pleased with today’s test.
He says it’s too early to have preliminary data on how broadly the message was shared on wireless devices.
