Students outside of Halifax will be seeing some new faces at the front of their classrooms.
The Council to Improve Classroom Conditions will hire 57 new high school teachers for the fall of 2018.
The move will address the fact most of council’s budget was spent on Halifax this year.
The council will also see a $20 million dollar increase in their budget in 2018-19 to expand on the work it has done.
The new hires will join the 153 teachers who were hired to assist in complex classrooms, increase attendance and support smaller class sizes.
Going forward this year, the council will focus on a number of hot button items such as student assessment issues, including changes to report cards.
