Many volunteer fire departments in the area are in need of updated equipment.
The provincial Emergency Services Provider Fund is designed to offer financial assistance to volunteer fire departments and ground search and rescue organizations to upgrade equipment.
It provides up to 75 per cent of eligible costs to a maximum of $20,000.
Many departments need money for things like updated fire trucks but Saint -Bernard Fire Chief, Daniel Gaudet, says it’s the smaller things that departments need.
” We have capital funding for fire trucks and stuff so the funding for the basic stuff is the hardest to try and get.”
Organizations that are in need can only receive funding from the fund every three years.
Applications are open until June 22nd.
