Repairs to a large liquid oxygen tank will take place today, Thursday May 3, at Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
Last Friday, hospital staff noticed there was a high use of liquid oxygen, and found a small leak in some of the fittings.
The tank will be emptied before repairs can be made.
Spokesperson Fraser Mooney says visitors may notice a cloud of vapour.
“It’s really nothing to worry about. The cloud is harmless and there’s qualified, certified technicians and engineers doing the repair work.”
Visitors or patients with appointments in Building C (the Clare building, old hospital), should be aware that some parking spaces in front of the building may not be available while the repair work takes place.
