The Yarmouth Hospital Foundation is excited that a new urology program is up and running at the hospital.
Waitlists should shorten at the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, as the program is offered three days out of the month in Yarmouth.
40 percent of those on the waitlist are from our area.
Chair Don Cook says it’s always nice to make healthcare more accessible for residents of Southwestern Nova Scotia.
“So they don’t have to incur extra travel to Kentville or Halifax. We can offer something right here in Yarmouth at our hospital. It’s a win for all of Southwest Nova.”
Cook says without the donation from former members of the Saulnierville Legion of $25,000, this would not have been possible.
“We are so grateful for the Clare donation. It really makes our job a lot easier.”
The money helped purchase the equipment to get the program off the ground.
Cook says the foundation has set a goal to raise an additional $82,000 for the program by the end of the year.
